The Lord Reigns

It is easy to get overwhelmed by the rampant chaos and confusion. The airways are filled with contradictions and scuttlebutt is everywhere. How is a follower of Christ to walk through times like these?

While the world has named the virus Covid-19, the real name of the virus is FEAR. The vaccine: "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10). We live by faith, not by fear.

The Lord has His firm hand on the 'pandemic'. "The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice... Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for He guards the lives of His faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 97:1 & 10). The Lord didn't bring the virus into the world, but He does offer healing and life in this world or the next.

Obey those in earthly authority. "Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor." (1 Peter 2:13-17).

Pray for ALL people. "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior." (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

Finally, the Lord is the God of the impossible. He will deliver us. Trust Christ; do not fear. "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7).
