Life is a Boat Ride

One day Jesus said to his disciples, “‘Let us go over to the other side of the lake.’ So they got into a boat and set out” (Luke 8:22-25). They had to be excited. Smooth sailing with Jesus. While Jesus was sleeping, a fierce storm dashed their expectations and, overcome by fear, they woke Jesus in a panic saying, “Don’t you care if we die?” (Mark 4:38). As Christians we are in the same boat, sailing across the lake that is called the world. Sudden storms can cause us to panic. To wonder if God cares. Let's replace panic with prayer and faith, because Jesus will rise, He will calm the storm, and with a whimsical grin ask, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:22-25). For nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38).
