The Secrets to Finding Peace, Revealed

finding peace

Life is complicated. There’s no getting around it.

But the way we navigate our lives determines if we live them in peace or disarray. Now, life will always have moments that test us more than others. However, finding peace in God can make even the most challenging of moments seem easy.

Finding peace in life is about more than mindfulness or reducing our stress. It’s about finding fulfillment in Christ and ridding ourselves of deep-rooted anxieties that keep us from Him. If you’ve been looking to finally find your inner peace, keep reading.

Embrace Self-Reflection

Self-reflection can be challenging for many people, so you’re not alone if you struggle with this. Introspection can reveal things about ourselves we don’t like, or something we didn’t know was there. But with God’s help, we can become the person we were meant to be.

Forming a relationship with God helps us discover new things about ourselves to love and embrace. Everyone makes mistakes and suffers from the shame of them, but Jesus died for your sins. Every day is a new beginning when you trust in Him and His forgiveness.

Even when we feel happy and in-tune with ourselves, prayers and gratitude can help us recognize what we did to get there and what we need to do to stay that way. As a whole, self-reflection should be a continuous journey you take with God that helps tune-in to your deepest feelings and rawest emotions.

Give Yourself Time With God

Taking a moment each day to be with your thoughts is important. But, this doesn’t mean running through your to-do list or worrying about the future.

Getting caught up in the day to day actions of life happens to everyone. Allowing yourself time to pray and simply speak to God gives you a chance for spiritual reconnection.

Learn What You Can and Cannot Control

Many people who struggle with chaos in their lives also have difficulty distinguishing what they can and cannot control. Everything in this life is His creation, and trusting God is the only way to get through it.

Every day we make choices, and every day those choices shape the person we become. By allowing ourselves to let go and understand some things are in His hands, we also let go of the things that hold us back.

True respect and admiration for God present themselves when you can truly let go and let Him take over. You do not have the power to change anything in this world that He does not already want for you. Give yourself to God, trust Him, and you will finally find peace in the things you can’t control.

Practice Positivity

Blind positivity isn’t always helpful, but neither is negativity. Embracing optimism and positivity will change the way you see the world and how you see the people in your life. Optimism can be expressed by allowing your life to happen the way God intended.

Listen to Him and what He is calling you towards. Trust that His plan is the only plan you will ever need. Giving in to negative thoughts can happen to everyone, but don’t allow them to take over.

Practicing positivity allows us to be more gentle with ourselves and more trusting of God and his plan. By finding positivity, you will learn to find peace in yourself.

Be Open

You cannot protect yourself from everything God may throw at you, but you can embrace it. There is nothing in this world that He doesn’t think you can handle, or you wouldn’t be here. Closing yourself off to new possibilities because of anxiousness and fear only harms you and distances you from Him in the long run.

Be open to new experiences and people. The more you welcome Him into your life, the more that you’ll see peace isn’t always what’s around you, but what’s inside.

He will guide you in the direction you need to be, but you have to be open to the possibilities.

Take Care of Yourself

To find peace, you must take care of yourself. Nourish the body and soul that God has given you.

Though when we lack peace and stability, it may seem complicated, remember that there are things we can control and things we can’t. Nourishing and exercising our bodies are things that keep us healthy and strong.

Physical exercise and healthy eating are even linked to better mental health. But don’t be too strict with yourself. There is a healthy balance when it comes to taking care of yourself, and as you follow these other tips for finding peace, you will notice what that is for you.

Be Patient

Things will not always happen when you want them to. Some things may not happen at all. But be patient.

He has a plan for you, one that is greater than any of us could ever imagine. Be patient with yourself, the people around you, and your situation. Other people are in the process of finding the Lord too, and it’s rarely an easy process.

The moment you’re in is the one He means for you to be in.

Have Goals

While some people may find peace and calm in doing nothing, it’s not because they don’t have a purpose or goal. Establish goals for yourself, and when you reach them, set another. Set long term goals and short term goals.

While you don’t need to have a defined goal or even reach them to find peace, you need purpose. Whether it’s small or big, your purpose helps guide your life. Listen to God, and He will show you your purpose!

He will guide you if you only listen. Growing your relationship with God and getting comfortable speaking to Him will help you reach those goals. He can help you realize what you need.

Actively trying to reach a goal helps you find fulfillment and helps you move forward, thus finding peace.
